The story

A tiny fish, a huge journey

In the sunny waters of Coral Bay lives Rayn, a little fish wearing every colour of the rainbow. His best friend is Clio, a brave clownfish: together they explore every reef, every cave, every wreck.

Then one night the sea goes dark. Dredmaw, the megalodon of the Abyss, sweeps through the bay… and when the water clears, Clio is gone.

Rayn is small. But Rayn is fast, and he never gives up. From the kelp forests to a sunken ship, from the Twilight Trench to the bottom of the Abyss, he follows the trail of his friend, meeting grumpy crabs, moray eels, jellyfish, message bottles from Clio and a very talkative computer that has been underwater for far too long.

All the way down to the Abyss: Rayn is coming, Clio!

How does it end? You will find out down there, in the dark. Let's just say that not every monster is what it seems.

The development

From Oceano (2008) to Prismtide (2026)

Prismtide is the remake of the very first game Gianluca Grasso, the founder of Starlyware, ever made. It took eighteen years and four attempts.

Game Maker (2008) Godot 4 GDScript Pixel art Google Play Billing
  1. 2008

    Oceano

Gianluca was eight years old when he made Oceano with Game Maker: a rainbow fish, crabs, puffers, coins, boulders and a door at the end of every level. His first game, made for fun and played by family and friends.

  2. 2014

    The first remake

Six years later he rebuilt it from scratch with new levels and mechanics. The project grew, then stopped halfway.

  3. 2023

    New sprites

Another attempt with brand-new sprites and a cleaner structure. Again, real life got in the way and it was never finished.

  4. 2026

    Prismtide

This time Oceano is finally complete. Rebuilt in Godot 4 with new pixel art, music and sound effects, five worlds, a real story and a final boss, it gets a new name that works in every language: Prismtide, the tide of a prism, like Rayn's colours. It is available for Android and, for free and complete, for Windows.

Karen, the voice assistant Gianluca published in 2015, makes a cameo in the Sunken Ship. You can talk to her on the web too.
